Supporting Students with Hearing Loss
Aimed to equip you with the knowledge, understanding and skills to successfully support students with hearing loss.
Description
This facilitator-led blended learning course has been co-designed by the Department of Education and the Victorian Deaf Education Institute to develop understanding and capabilities in:
- assisting students with hearing loss, using a strengths-based approach to inclusion
- how the ear works, as well as types of hearing loss and their impacts
- how assessments can be used to determine student skills, including those areas requiring intervention
- a range of strategies to support students.

Term 3 registrations have been paused. Registrations re-open 17 August - 11 September 2026.

Audience
Victorian government school staff and regional staff.
Delivery
Facilitator-led blended learning courses undertaken over 8 weeks, which include:
- self-paced online modules
- collaborate with others in online discussions and reflect on your own learning
- two learning tasks to ensure learning is meaningful and applied
- two facilitated 1.5-hour sessions (face-to-face or virtual conferencing held after school hours).
Completion
Successful completion of an Inclusive Classrooms course provides eligibility to claim 20 hours professional learning contributing to relevant association registration requirements.
