Supporting Primary Students with Learning Difficulties
This course aims to develop your knowledge, understanding and skills in supporting primary students with learning difficulties.
Description
In this facilitator-led blended learning course you will develop understanding and capabilities in:
- the science of reading and how this is reflected in Victoria's approach to teaching reading F-2
- the key components of how students learn captured in the Victorian Teaching and Learning Model 2.0
- typical signs and symptoms seen in students with learning difficulties in the classroom
- the Multi-Tiered System of Supports (MTSS) framework and how it can support students with learning difficulties
- range of literacy assessment tools that can assist with identifying areas for support
- a range of strategies and adjustments for students with learning difficulties.

Audience
Victorian government school staff and regional staff.
Completion
Successful completion of an Inclusive Classrooms course provides eligibility to claim 15 hours professional learning contributing to relevant association registration requirements.
Delivery
Facilitator-led blended learning courses undertaken over 6 weeks, which include:
- self-paced online modules
- collaborate with others in online discussions and reflect on your own learning
- two facilitated 1-hour sessions (face-to-face or virtual conferencing held after school hours).
