Universal Design for Learning

This course develops your knowledge and understanding about Universal Design for Learning (UDL) including how to design inclusive lessons.

Description

This facilitator-led blended learning course has been co-designed by the Department of Education and Monash University. It has been specifically designed for Victorian government school staff. In this course, you will learn:

  • what UDL is and the 3 principles that form its framework
  • how UDL aligns with the Victorian Department of Education’s values, vision and models
  • how to design inclusive lessons aligned to the Victorian Curriculum and the Victorian Teaching and Learning Model 2.0 using UDL
  • how UDL can positively impact student behaviour and wellbeing.

Registrations

Term 3 registrations have been paused. Registrations re-open 17 August - 11 September 2026.

Audience

Education Support (ES) staff are invited to participate alongside a teacher from their school, where possible, because parts of the course focus on lesson planning.

Delivery

This facilitator-led blended learning courses is undertaken over 7 weeks, and includes:

  • self-paced online modules
  • collaborate with others in online discussions and reflect on your learning
  • opportunities to apply your learning through creating an inclusive lesson plan
  • two facilitated 1-hour sessions to consolidate your learning.

Completion

Successful completion of this Inclusive Classrooms course provides eligibility to claim 17 hours professional learning contributing to relevant association registration requirements.
