Description
Inclusive Classrooms – Supporting Students with Dyscalculia is designed to develop your confidence and capability to support students with numeracy learning difficulties in the classroom. The course explores identification, assessment, planning and the implementation of evidence-based teaching strategies.
This fully online course has been designed by the Department of Education and draws on the latest learning difficulties and dyscalculia research and evidence. This course achieved best eLearning initiative – eLearning Widespread Adopter Gold Winner at the 2021 LearnX Awards.
This course will take approximately 2 hours to complete.
Participants who successfully complete the eLearning course are eligible to claim 2 hours professional learning contributing to their relevant association registration requirements. Successful completion of the 4 modules within the course generates a certificate.

The Inclusive Classrooms professional learning has been specifically designed for Victorian government school staff.
Learning Outcomes
As a participant you will:
- build your awareness of numeracy learning difficulties as well as how these relate to (and are different from) learning disabilities, such as dyscalculia
- develop a more nuanced understanding of learning difficulties in numeracy and to be confident in recognising the signs that may indicate a student is experiencing a learning difficulty
- explore different methods for assessing students using the curriculum
- learn practical skills and knowledge relating to effective instruction, interventions, and adjustments for students with learning difficulties in numeracy.
