In this presentation Christine Tully, Learning Skills Program Coordinator at Melbourne Polytechnic, provides an overview of the Literacy and Numeracy requirements in Vocational Education and Training (VET) courses.
The presentation outlines the requirements of the Australian Core Skills Framework (ACSF) and the Australian Qualifications Framework (AQF) and highlight a range of examples of the framework in practice in various units of study. Christine discusses what levels of literacy are required to undertake different levels of study and courses, including the purpose of the entry Language Literacy and Numeracy test.
This session is suited to education staff working with senior students, to help understand how to prepare them for further study and the requirements of VET. Christine Tully, Learning Skills Program Coordinator at Melbourne Polytechnic, has worked in the Adult Education field for 31 years. Over the past 10 years Christine has worked in the Literacy and Numeracy support area, coordinating supports for a variety of Vocational Education and Training (VET) programs. She has also contributed to the Australian Core Skills Framework (ACSF) as an expert commentator and previously worked as a Mathematics teacher in the secondary system.
