Understanding Deafness
Learn about the incidence of childhood deafness, basic anatomy of the ear and different types and degrees of deafness.
Description
In Australia, 1-2:1,000 infants are born with significant permanent deafness. This VDEI e-learning module provides learners with an introduction to the incidence of childhood deafness, basic anatomy of the ear and different types and degrees of deafness. Participants will also learn about the causes of deafness, a basic introduction to assistive hearing technology and common terminology used in relation to deafness. By building an understanding of deafness, viewers can better understand and support students who are deaf or hard of hearing.
VDEI recommend the use of Google Chrome, Firefox, Edge or Safari (Macintosh users only) as the preferred web browsers to access this learning.
