In this VDEI Online Hearing and Hearing Loss Lecture Series, hear four prominent academics and professionals discuss topics relating to the ear and perception of sound, audiology and hearing loss.

The series features 22 topics consisting of 75 separate videos which are delivered in short lecture style presentations (each 2-15 minutes in length). Learning checks are featured throughout the series to consolidate participant knowledge, and supporting materials are available for each presentation. Participants will need approximately 9 hours to complete the lecture series.

Presenters

Dr Dani Tomlin is an Associate Professor in the University of Melbourne Department of Audiology and Speech Pathology and is the Director of Teaching and Clinical Services. Dr Tomlin, who has over 20 years clinical experience, established the University of Melbourne Auditory Processing Disorder clinic in 2012, which now supports over 200 children per year.

 

Professor Richard Dowell is an audiologist, academic and researcher. He holds the Graeme Clark Chair in Audiology and Speech Sciences at the University of Melbourne. Professor Dowell was also a key scientist with the Hearing Cooperative Research Centre (2008-2014) and former director of the Royal Victorian Eye and Ear Hospital. Professor Dowell has been involved in clinical work and research in cochlear implants for over 30 years.

 

Dr Kelley Graydon is a paediatric audiologist and lecturer in the University of Melbourne Department of Audiology and Speech Pathology. Dr Graydon’s PhD research focused on the long-term effects of conductive hearing loss.

 

Dr Jessica Vitkovic is the Innovation and Experience Design Lead at Soundfair, a non-profit committed to hearing equality. Jessica completed her master’s degree (2001) and PhD (2011) at the University of Melbourne. She started her audiology career as a full-time vestibular audiologist/clinical tutor at the University of Melbourne.
